Bowling Greens Re – Opening

To Our Members,

We are excited to welcome you back as we are re-opening on the bowling greens from Thursday, 7th October 2021.

We thank our members for their patience as we work through the updated guidelines recently released from Bowls Victoria and Knox City Council in the re opening of the green.

Whilst some of the restrictions have eased and we can now op open our bowling greens, please be aware that many restrictions are still in place.

We can use up to four rinks on each green. We can have five players on each of these rinks.

However, there restrictions that must be adhere to:

*All participants will be asked to sign in via a QR Code

*Each participant needs to be able to produce a vaccination certificate

* The participants on each rink can be from just two households;

*Participants can travel no more than 15 Kms to bowl

*No spectators are allowed at the club

*Face masks must be worn other than when delivering the bowl.

These restrictions to remain in place until around 26 October, but will need to wait for further information on this when the time comes.

The bowling greens will be open for a roll up on the following days and times:-

Tuesday             10am – 4pm
Wednesday       10am – 4pm
Thursday           10am – 4pm
Friday                12pm – 4pm
Saturday           10am – 4pm

Each day we will arrange Bowls Club volunteers to act as Covid Marshalls and to supervise rink allocations.

All bowling sessions will be for 1 hour. After 50 mins you will be asked by the Covid Marshall to start packing up and leave the greens, this will allow for the next session to start on time.

Please don’t arrive any more than 5 minutes before your booking and leave promptly to complete your session.

Whilst we would love to throw open the doors to everyone for a rollup, we are sure our members understand that we need to operate within the restrictions that are in place at the moment.

A big thanks to the club members for volunteering their time to be Covid Marshalls.

The Club boasts three synthetic greens, two of which were installed in 2011. There are 18 rinks in all. The Club enters a number of teams in Bowls Victoria Summer Pennant in both the Saturday and Tuesday competitions.

Social bowls, particularly the Friday pairs competition, is an all-year event, and indoor carpet bowls features during the winter months. Coaching is available, and rinks may be hired for that social event “with a difference”.

Timeline PhotosWhile we were hoping to release revised Return to Play guidelines by today, unfortunately we are still waiting on State Government advice on how we can safely return to bowls as well as what restrictions will be in place around numbers and/or density limits. The moment we receive an answer from Government, we will post an update, but at this stage greens and clubhouses are to remain closed across Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victorian areas currently in lockdown. We understand your frustration, we are just as keen as you are to get back out on the greens. ... See MoreSee Less
