Once again, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we need to close our doors.

This will also mean that our bowling greens will be closed from 4pm today (Wednesday, 8th July, 2020).

When the government make announcements the information and guidelines usually take a few days to be worked through by the sporting bodies before being filtered down to the clubs. Rest assured that if we get any further information or the green light to open the greens again we will do so, as we understand the importance of regular exercise and love of the sport from our members.

We thank you for the support that you have shown the club over the last few month and we look forward to having you all back at the club when we are able to reopen.

Stay safe.

The Ferntree Gully Bowling Club

The Club boasts three synthetic greens, two of which were installed in 2011. There are 18 rinks in all. The Club enters a number of teams in Bowls Victoria Summer Pennant in both the Saturday and Tuesday competitions.

Social bowls, particularly the Friday pairs competition, is an all-year event, and indoor carpet bowls features during the winter months. Coaching is available, and rinks may be hired for that social event “with a difference”.

Since the Victorian Premier’s announcement of the ‘Roadmap’ last Sunday 6 September, Bowls Victoria and all other sports have been seeking clarity on what the planned Roadmap means for community sport.

Through a range of meetings and conversations with Government this week, we are still yet to be informed of any further detail or potential for play. This has particular relevance for Regional Victoria who will reach Step 2 (or 3) before Metropolitan Melbourne.

We will continue to liaise with Government about when we can return to play, and numbers of players permitted, etc. We understand they are under extreme pressure with all industries seeking advice, but we will keep you updated as soon as we know more.

Keep well and stay safe.

Look after your mates.
