Pennant Finals 2011/12

Saturday Pennant

Divisional Final

As reported under "NEWS" the firsts were victorious in the Division final beating Mulgrave CC by 25 shots.

Metropolitan Divisional Finals

The team travelled to Chadstone in weather that could be best described as "inclement", to face off against Deer Park. Played in poor conditions, Deer Park adjusted to the conditions better, and ran out winner 59-91. Bad luck to the Ones, but, again, congratulations for taking out the Division Pennant - a great ending to a great year for the Club.

  Tuesday Pennant - Semi Finals

  • SECOND TEAM TAKE OUT SEMI FINAL.
  • After a half hour delay while the rinks dried out after early rain, the Seconds took to the rinks to take on fourth place getters Healesville.
  • Two of the teams jumped out to early leads, and were never really headed, but Ken Miller's team had a fluctuating match throughout, and were only pipped on the last end.
  • Arguably the strongest team in the Division all year, the Two's ran out winners 81-43, and will play the Final on Thursday at Ringwood against Croydon. Teams are unchanged.
  • Rink 1: A Ford (S), M McKenna (3rd) M Thockloth (2nd) P O'Brien (L) - won 35-12. All four members of the team contributed throughout, and it was a solid performance.
  • Rink 2: P Bowen (S), J Tournier (3rd) B Rae (2nd), J Bell (L). Took a commanding lead early in the game, and were rarely placed under pressure. A good team effort, with some brilliant individual efforts here and there. Won 30-13.
  • Rink 3:K Miller (S), B Cult (3rd) J herdman (2nd) W Ford (L). Met with much stronger opposition and had a close game throughout. Took a one shot lead into the final end, but gave up a "three" and lost by two. Again a solid team effort against some strong opposition.

  •  Congratulations again to the Seconds, and the best of luck on Thursday.
  • FOURTH TEAM:
  • The Fourths travelled to Yarra Junction to take on the top side in the semi-final, and, unfortunately, were not able to come away with a win. Overall score was 43-71.
  • Rink 1: K Sheldon-Collins (S), B Waters (3rd), C Pater (2nd), L Sheldon-Collins (L) lost 11-32.
  • Rink 2: P Pater (S), J Garner (3rd), H Thockloth (2nd), B Williams (L) lost 14-23.
  • Rink 3: P Martin (S), P Jones (3rd), A Roszczyk (2nd), J Dauven (L). Won 18-16.
  • Bad luck to the Fours, but a magnificent effort in getting to the Finals.
THE FINAL

The Seconds travelled to Ringwood on Thursday 8th March to play Croydon in the Division Final. Unfortunately the Team was not able to replicate their great form of Tuesday, and went down to Croydon by 31-69.

  • Rink 1; A Ford (S) 11-28

  • Rink 2: P Bowen (S) 8-23

  • Rink 3: K Miller (S) 12-19

  • Commiserations to the team, but also congratulations for making the Pennnant Final and concluding what has been a superb season for the Ferntree Gully Bowling Club.
